Bringing Democracy to the Pedernales?
The controversy has been brewing for months — Pedernales Electric Cooperative board members accused of a high-salaried, high-handed management style while co-op members say they want to open up the process and institute democratic leadership.
Now a powerful state senator has entered the fray, promising legislative reforms if the PEC board can’t see the light. “This is a huge topic out here,” Sen. Troy Fraser (R-Horseshoe Bay) told the press this week.
Fraser complains that the board is guilty of “self-perpetuating” practices that have “resulted in no significant changes in board policy in 30 years” and too many perks. Sounds a bit like the Roman Texas Senate, as a matter of fact…

When Troy Fraser is the best populist we have, you know things have hit rock bottom.
