Toby Futrell Turns 53
While Austin taxpayers dig deep to fund a Pennsylvania firm’s search for her replacement, City Manager Toby Futrell turns 53 today. The $240,600 per year manager has announced that she is leaving by next May — sooner, if certain council members have their way.
Ms Futrell will surely be honored today with gifts and speeches by her staff and others throughout city government who owe their jobs to her. But given her salary, severance package and retirement benefits, the rest of the city is likely to pass. Sorry Toby, we gave at the office.
