If this blog had an Olberman-esque “Oddball” segment, this would definitely make it-

Everyone’s favorite millionaire barrel racing Lt. Governor , David Dewhurst, was recently in Hollywood for a political fundraiser but stayed on some extra time to take acting lessons in preparation for his next race. We don’t know if he’s going for more Brad Pitt or John Wayne. We also think he’s going to need more than acting lessons to beat Kay Bailey for Governor in 2010.

But that’s not the weird part.

Back at the ranch in Austin, the Hollywood hero went to browse for jewelry at the Menagerie, the upscale store on W. 38th.

Sources tell us a Dewhurst staffer went in while his boss waited outside in the car and asked several customers to leave so that Dewhurst could shop undisturbed.  At least one of the customers refused — the wife of a former Lieutenant Governor.

I guess those Hollywood ways are tough to shake, what with all the paparazzi and all that must be stalking him these days.

Now that’s weird.
