There Goes The Neighborhood

Old West Austin was ranked in the top 10 neighborhoods in the country. We don’t recall how many Wal-Marts or 250+ unit apartment complexes, or VMU projects City Hall allowed out there, but we are sure there must be a few if they won such a prestigious award.

  2. Snarkiness aside, it is the things you can walk to on the INSIDE of the neighborhood that made OWANA so great (and make me miss it so much), rather than having to drive everywhere. When I lived there, I would go whole weeks without starting my car.

  3. Not to mention the fact that there are plenty of large apartment complexes in the neighborhood (including UT student housing, the sixth street apartments) and several VMU-like projects currently being built on the neighborhood’s edge (along 5th street and Enfield). I sold my vehicle 3 months ago and haven’t missed a beat. Everything is within walking distance and hopping with energy.

  4. Just remember, Kedron, according to “uh huh” and CLay, people like you and I don’t exist. Everybody drives everywhere, period.
