Made In The Shade?

A growing number of people who have ever had to interact at any level at all with city hall insiders are predicting lights out for Jennifer Kim come ‘08.

Folks have been grumbling in dark corners for a year and now the first challenger to step out into the light is Clarksvillian Randi Shade.

We found this brief bio on the Aspen Institute Website:

Randi K. Shadeshade

Randi K. Shade, Vice President, Gift Cards, Kintera, Inc. In 1999, Randi founded CharityGift, an internet-based company that makes it possible for people to make charitable donations as gifts, and allows the honorees to choose which charity benefits from that gift. In 2005 she sold the company to Kintera, Inc., and assumed a leadership role as vice president of gift cards, to ensure a smooth transition of operations and technology.

From 2001-2005, Randi also served as executive director of the Austin Entrepreneurs Foundation. She began her career at Procter & Gamble, and later worked for Texas Governors Ann Richards and George W. Bush, serving as founding executive director of the Texas Commission on Volunteerism and Community Service.

She also served as director of national development for City Year, and was awarded an Echoing Green Foundation-Harvard Public Management Fellowship to work for Teach for America in its inaugural year. Randi is active in alumni activities at the University of Texas and Harvard Business School, and is a member of the board of the Austin Community Development Corporation, the OneStar Commission for National and Community Service, and the University of Texas Hillel Foundation.

She earned a BA at the University of Texas at Austin, and an MBA from Harvard Graduate School of Business. She and her partner make their home in Austin, TX.

  3. I fail to see what Council member Kim has done to make herself supposedly vulnerable. To me, she appears to work hard and really care about this city. I think some of the criticism of her is typical Austin liberal attitude.
