Rumor Has It…
We get all kinds of crazy tips in our email box. Keep them coming and we will sort through them as best we can.
We were going to let this one go, but figured we would try an open query to you, oh knowledgeable reader.
The pertinent part of the email is below:
“My friend recently heard from a city inspector that they are stepping up residential code enforcement in December. Apparently it is part of a contest. Those who find the most violations get to keep their job.”
We can’t vouch for this one folks, but would love to hear if there is any truth to it. Is this a Futrell fun drive?

“3rd place is ‘you’re fired!’” Alec Baldwin should be the next CM.

This better just be a really bad rumor. I am calling it in right now and will find out what I can.

Does no one have any understanding of just how difficult it is to get fired at the City?
And, “my friend heard from another guy?” is the source worthy of posting this hot tid-bit?
Finally, my favorite insinuation here is that the City is out to get you…during the holidays…for competitive sport.
Incredible.

No truth what-so-ever to this really bad rumor. But I think I found out how it was born.
A few weeks ago some of our code enforcement folks ran a friendly competition to see which team could gather the most bandit signs over a weekend. Bandit signs are the illegal signs you see in the right of way advertising jobs, how to make money from home, dating web sites etc. These signs are illegal and can be taken without notice and disposed of. Code enforcement regularly picks them up….so they had a little contest over a weekend to see who could get the most.
That’s story and I am glad there is no truth to the “hot tid bit” that was posted.
Maybe in the future you can just ask directly before posting something that. It really does affect some very valued and hard working city employees who don’t deserve to labeled as such when their job is already hard enough.
Thanks,
Mike

Seems to me this post showed more sense of responsibility than many blogs would have.

We are as glad as anyone to find out this is not true. Thanks for looking into this Mike. We heard it from a couple of people and it seemed easy enough to prove or dispel.
Mission Accomplished!
