Kim Kicks It Off, Meurer Demurs
The Princeton Princess made it official last night with her reelection campaign kick-off at Stubbs Bar-B-Q. The event featured a handful of supporters and about 100 candidates for other offices. Or maybe that was the other way around….
Meanwhile, rumors swirling around Travis County DA Ronnie Earle’s possible retirement picked up steam with word from State District Judge Jeanne Meurer, herself retiring from the bench, that she might run for Ronnie’s seat if he decides to move on. One potential hiccup for Meurer: she is building a house in Colorado and could have trouble convincing voters that she could handle the commute. On the other hand, it’s probably faster than if she lived off Highway 183….

I was at Kim’s event as I’ve made it a point to attend most of the city council candidate kickoff (regardless of who I might support). The statement that is accurate is about 100 supporters and a small handful of candidates for other office. Most of those were actually at Diana Maldonado’s fundraiser a few blocks down at Serrano’s.

Candidates didn’t want to be seen as supporting Kim.

Jeanne Meurer would be a good candidate for one of the three seats up for election on the Texas Court of Criminal Appeals in 2008.
