Central Texas Congressional Races Take Shape

If an amorphous blob is a shape that is…

Filing deadline is over and now we look toward March.

Who will we send to Washington to boost Congress’ record low poll numbers? Well, incumbent Democrat Lloyd Doggett is unopposed this spring, as are incumbent Republicans John Carter and Lamar Smith.

Republican Mike McCaul expected to face a primary challenge from Charles James to see who will face the winner of the Democratic primary between Larry Joe Doherty of Brenham and Dan Grant of Austin in November. But James abruptly ended his campaign in the days before the filing deadline.

Doggett will face Republican George Morovich in the fall, and Carter will face Democrat Brian Ruiz.
