As Ronnie Leaves, He Says Legacy Is Spelled “Lehmberg”
As expected, Travis Co. DA Ronnie Earle has endorsed Rosemary Lehmberg in the four-way race to succeed him. During a news conference at the Courthouse this morning, he said Lehmberg “has had a greater role in the success of the Travis County District Attorney’s Office than any other single person.”
Lehmberg joined the office six months before he did, Earle noted, and “has been the director and supervisor of every division of this office. For the past ten years as First Assistant Travis County District Attorney she has supervised the work of all these divisions.”
Earle’s endorsement sharpens the focus on the top local race on the ballot in March, when the race will either be over or go to an April runoff. The other three candidates — Gary Cobb, Mindy Montford, and Rick Reed — are also assistant Das, and Ronnie will have to see them around the office at least for the next two or three months.

I have not met the two men (Reed and Cobb) who are running but of the two two women, I think Ms. Montford is scary. I saw a television story about how the Republican Party did not bother to run a candidate for district attorney. They did not have to with Ms. Montford in the campaign.

Does anyone know why the newly endorsed Lehmberg didn’t attend the press conference? It was a bit odd not seeing her there even though Ronnie was endorsing her.

I saw her at the West Austin Democrats candidate screening yesterday.
