Local GOP’s Ballot Measures Cut Government And Expand Government
Never ones to let potential charges of hypocrisy steer them away from a good rhetorical attack, local Republican leaders have submitted three initiatives for their primary ballot in Travis County.
One targets the issue dujour, of course, calling on federal, state, and even local to “enforce U.S. immigration laws…” Look for Brewster McCracken and Lee Leffingwell to soon strap on side arms to show voters quien es más macho.
But it’s the other two that fail to meet the consistency test. One calls for “controlling government growth” by requiring every public agency in Texas to “limit any annual increase in its budget and spending to the combined increase of population and inflation,” while the other would require “voters to provide valid photo identification in order to cast a ballot.”
Maybe the savings from the first can pay for the increased bureaucracy from the second?

One Response to “Local GOP’s Ballot Measures Cut Government And Expand Government”
You will be sorely disappointed if you are waiting for the Republican Party to show intellectual consistency.
