Larry Joe Not Ready For Prime Time?

Larry Joe Doherty, the former Houston lawyer running in the Democratic primary for the chance to take on Republican Congressman Mike McCaul, seems to be having trouble with the High Definition that campaigns can bring to view.

First, the blogs went crazy with accusations that he paid for a push poll in the district. Then, news broke that his campaign finance chairman is also raising money for Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney.

The pressure may be getting to him. Asked to comment, he lashed out at his critics: “Do they want a purity test for money? Anybody that naïve doesn’t deserve to be allowed to have political commentary. They ought to go to school and study something.”

We sure wouldn’t begrudge him an opportunity to beat up on bloggers, but we kind of thought this tv star would be more “ready for his close-up”

  2. While I appreciate the metaphor, as a blogger & LJD supporter, I personally would much prefer a candidate who isn’t afraid to speak his mind when he’s “on the air.” We have enough “theatrics” in politics already — there’s no need to encourage “acting.”

(Also you’re missing a period at the end of “close-up.”)

  3. Dude… totally missed that period. That, like, disqualifies your entire argument.

  4. Now we are gonna leave the period off out of pure stubborness

  5. For serious? Come on…I let you get away with your extraneous “quotation marks.” Throw the period in there and we’ll call it even.

If “politics” gets old, you might like “this blog.”
