Meeker Gives Austin The Finger
![]()
Jason Meeker’s campaign consultants sent out a media advisory today announcing a press conference tomorrow to officially get into the race against Lee Leffingwell. Unsurprisingly, he is holding it across from his Alamo Northcross Mall.
InFact Daily reported today that Meeker is using Brewster’s guys to run his race. So the “change” candidate is already allied with the institutional? That didn’t take long. Does this mean that Brewster will endorse against Leff?

Meeker picked pros. Stanford ran Chris Bell’s campaign for Guv. His money man owns Discount Electronics, a successful small business homegrown in Austin. Neither are city hall insiders.

If the McMeeker campaign doesn’t immediately call on Leffingwell to pledge to serve out a full three-year term on Council if re-elected (i.e. not to run against Brew for mayor in 2009), I’ll eat APR’S hat.

So is Governor Bell going to help in the race? Oh, nevermind.
He’d be better off with Kinky anyway.

McMeeker should get his logo printed some of those big foam finger whatsies they pass out at football games so everyone can put them on their hands and chant “He’s Number One! He’s Number One!”

Is McMeeker tool of others? Why so few at his press conference? Thought he was big leader in grassroots?

damn, he just lost his other issue. Back to the drawing board…

Few “press conferences” usually have a crowd. They usually draw press. Did the press show up? Jason Meeker was covered everywhere for several days. How much press did any of the other candidates get when they announced?
From what I read, Leff’s new challenger raised the issue of the STNP, and Leff switched. And then any potential deal caved. So who won and who lost? Either way, Leff still walked away when the issue got hot. The real issue is what’s next for Austin’s source of energy? Can Meeker or Leffingwell answer that?

Perhaps we should put up combination turnstiles/turbines at the didn’t-have-to-be-this-fugly Wal-Mart Meeker ensured Northcross would get by his idiotic “negotiation” tactics.
