Cobb To Back Lehmberg
Gary Cobb, who ran third in the Travis Co. District Attorney’s race on March 4, will endorse Rosemary Lehmberg tomorrow according to The Man… and we just got a press release hinting as much.
The runoff with second-place finisher Mindy Montford is April 5.

I wrote on Dec. 1, 2007 that Cobb was a “transparent” “opportunist” who did not stand a chance in the Dem. primary because “he was the chief prosecutor against Lacresha Murray, an 11 year old girl charged with murder. Cobb used a coerced confession to convict. The case was later thrown out by a Republican appeals court.”
Once The Chronicle (not The Man who endorsed Cobb) exposed the Murray case, Cobb was toast. Now he’s offering what little political capital he has to the highest bidder. Cobb offered to support Montford if she promised to make him first assitant. BUT that’s a felony, and Montford refused to extend such an offer. Makes you wonder what Lehmberg offered Cobb.
A vote for Lehmberg is a vote for the status quo. Travis County won’t stand for the status quo. Mindy is the agent of change and that’s why I am now supporting her and I feel certain that other Reed supporters will, too.

Montford is the agent of change alright…. change to a DA’s office run by AT&Tl lobbyists, Tom DeLay’s lawyer Dick DeGuerin, and ultimately the Republican Attorney General once she transfers the public integirty unit to his shop.
