Terry Keel Too Busy Campaigning For Montford To Help His Own Sister-In Law?

Former Travis County Sheriff and Republican State Representive Terry Keel says he’s too busy trying to elect Democrat Mindy Montford in the DA runoff to bother with helping his own sister-in-law, Republican Donna Keel, in her race against Democratic state rep Valinda Bolton.

Keel, the hardline Republican who also held the seat his sister-in-law is running for before retiring and then becoming Republican House Speaker Tom Craddick’s parliamentarian, told a group this weekend that the “number one priority right now is Mindy, not Donna.”

Another reason we will never get married. In-Laws are such a pain!

  2. Terry’s a tool!

  3. This is so typical of the sort of political reverse strategy Carl Rove would try to pull driving voters away from Montford. He knows Travis county is heavily Democratic and he knows his support of Montford would be the kiss of death.

I guess he’s still trying to get even for the Tom DeLay prosecution.
At least that’s my take on it.

  5. Does anyone really believe Terry Keel is openly campaigning for Mindy Montford? And does anyone really believe Montford would be dumb enough to allow Keel to actively support her in the Democratic Party run-off? Give me a break!

This is a rumor started by Lehmberg to scare us Travis County liberals into voting for her. I’m not falling for it. Mindy is a lifelong Dem. She is the only one of the 4 candidates for DA who holds a union card — that’s why the local CLC endorsed her. And she is the only candidate with new ideas for the DA’s office. Don’t be fooled. I’m voting for Mindy.

  6. Not only is this completely made up but so is the rumor that Terral Smith is allowing people to make calls on behalf of Mindy from his office. Lehmberg is a Ronnie Earle crony and willing to say anything to win.

Well, Democrats are falling for that ol’ “I’m the best ’cause I have no experience” unqualified unvetted smooth-talker Obama, are they not? They fall for same ol tricks all the time.

This is classic Old School LBJ-style last-minute smear “If you lie close enough to the election, you can get away with it”.

But you gotta love that quick response libel threat from Keel going after Fero. Statesman says “Keel is threatening a libel lawsuit against Fero, who did not respond to e-mails or phone calls for comment.”

  8. Both great ladies but Mindy is a true blue dem and a really genuinely lovely person. I’m pretty disappointed with this negative advertising…I expected more from Rose. NO WAY would Karl Rove campaign for Mindy and Rose knows it. I was on the fence in this race because of professional respect for both but this has made up my mind. We need a DA with some dignity.

  9. Man, why would anyone believe a blog with a writer who doesn’t have the guts to share their name?

Got any swamp land to sell?

  10. It was only a matter of time until Mr. Fero picked on the wrong political animal. He should have stuck to nipping at the heels of less monied and no-so-vicious local guys, like Lee Leffingwell.

  11. It looks like the title on this post should have been: Terry Keel Too Busy Having Allies Post on Blogs to Help His Sister In Law.

You know you are in good shape when you have Sal Costello on your side and you are threatening to sue blogs.

Hey Keel, does this mean that you were supporting Lehmberg not Montford?

    Thou doth protest too much!

  12. I find myself agreeing with Sal Costello on this one. Effective blogs are transparent and authentic. If this is a flog, a fake blog, then its author is only hurting those it was designed to help. Walmart learned about this the hard way. Whoever is authoring this blog can and should simply reveal themselves.

  14. For Immediate Release: BrewsterNation.com launches website with demonstration against Leffingwell policy to support McCracken for Mayor campaign

    EVENT: BrewsterNation.com Launch

    DATE: Saturday, May 2, 2009

    TIME: 2pm

LOCATION: East 6th Street during Pecan Street Festival, near the Brewster McCracken campaign booth

CONTACT: Media Inquiries: Kimiko Tokita (512) 358-8508

Spokesperson (day of event only): Tom Booker (323) 490-4120

    INFO:

Saturday May 2 is the official launch date of BrewsterNation.com, a political website created by and for supporters of Brewster McCracken for Mayor. Though not a PAC, these supporters are representatives of Austin’s small business, creative, digital, and other tech industries and they support the site as a collective of individuals.

To mark the website’s launch, a group of Austin artists for McCracken will chain themselves to parking meters at 2pm on Saturday, during the Pecan Street Festival. The action is to mock and protest candidate Lee Leffingwell’s proposal to have all downtown parking meters charge on nights and weekends – which would potentially harm small businesses, restaurants, and music venues downtown. Many in the downtown community fear McCracken’s opposition neither understand the downtown business climate, nor do they have the vision to increase its sustainability.

BrewsterNation.com will feature video, photos, and commentary that supports McCracken’s run for Mayor. BrewsterNation.com supporters are in favor of McCracken’s strong, pro-active position on music, arts, small business and tech issues which will address the current economic downturn by nurturing Austin’s abundant creative class.

The group is also making the policy weaknesses of the other candidates known in areas of small business, music, film, and the tech and biotech industries. Although McCracken’s opposition has mentioned many of these industries (mostly in passing) they are without solid policy points and working plans to help grow these industries in Austin.
