Perry Pitches Book Among GOP Faithful

Texas Gov. Rick Perry used the Republican delegates gathered at Austin’s Delco Center this weekend to pitch the book he published just last month, “On My Honor: Why the American Values of the Boy Scouts Are Worth Fighting For.”

Perry decided that a captive audience of fellow conservatives was a good place to rack up sales, warning the faithful that the Boy Scouts are under attack from liberals and the ACLU. “The Boy Scouts need our help,” Perry told the crowd.

  2. As an Eagle Scout (and lifetime member of the National Eagle Scout Association), let me say that Rick Perry exhibits the values of the Scouting movement about as well as box of store-brand instant mashed potatoes.

Unless Scouting has changed in the last 20 years, the movement doesn’t teach you the kind of “values” that result in dumping children off health insurance, freely handing out corporate welfare and ignoring more human needs, and attempting to disenfranchise millions of Texans by encouraging Voter ID Legislation. Maybe Governor Perry has confused the Boy Scouts with a fraternity kegger or something.
