Railroad Commission Runoff Candidate Can’t Account For Missing Years

Mark Thompson came out of nowhere to force a runoff with Dale Henry in the statewide Texas Railroad Commission race a week from today.

A political newcomer who knocked off a former San Antonio city councilmember to qualify for the second round of voting, Thompson ran into trouble when he was forced to admit that he hadn’t bothered to vote in more than a decadeand that his grasp on what the office he’s running for actually does is… well, a little tenuous.

Now it turns out Thompson’s own resume isn’t all that accurate, either. He claims to have been a police officer “in the Austin area for 8 years. If so, the Texas Commission on Law Enforcement Officer Standards doesn’t know about it. The oversite agency says its records show Thompson wore a badge for only five years, not eight, and can’t account for the missing years.

Maybe he got lost looking for a polling place to vote?

  2. Just voted early for Dale Henry (and Rosemary Lehmberg) because I’m sick of these pretend Democrats like Mark Thompson (and Mindy Montford).
